Senior Hardware Product Manager - IoT Wireless
Role Summary
Lead product definition and roadmap for Silicon Labs IoT system-on-chip (SoC) hardware from concept through customer alphas. Work on wireless IoT platforms covering CPU, accelerators, power management, peripherals, security, radio subsystems and packaging.
Partner with IC design, test, validation, software, marketing, operations and sales to translate market systems and application requirements into silicon and evaluation hardware.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Role specifies 6+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor product management or the IoT industry.
Responsibilities
Own product definition, roadmap and cross-functional execution for scalable IoT SoC products.
- Define SoC product requirements, system KPIs, and hardware feature sets across CPU, co-processors, accelerators, power management, analog/digital peripherals, security and radio subsystems.
- Translate market application requirements into use cases, system block diagrams, compute/peripheral needs and protocol stack performance for Wi‑Fi, Matter, Thread, Zigbee, BLE, Bluetooth Classic, Sidewalk, Wi‑SUN and proprietary protocols.
- Specify hardware evaluation and debug interfaces (JTAG, SWD, ETM trace, PTI, VCP) and required user interfaces (buttons, LEDs, displays, sensors).
- Collaborate with IC design, product test, software, marketing, applications, operations and sales to develop long-term product plans and silicon definitions.
- Drive product development from concept through definition and present product proposals to executive management.
- Perform competitive and die-level teardown analysis to inform design and specification decisions.
- Manage a portfolio of scalable products with clear mapping to target applications.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills; plus items that are desirable.
- 6+ years experience in semiconductor product management or the IoT industry.
- Core development experience in IC front-end, architecture, verification or embedded systems engineering.
- Understanding of PPA tradeoffs: power estimation, die size estimation and process node fundamentals.
- Knowledge of wireless modem and RF design principles for Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, 802.15.4 or other low-power wireless standards.
- Proven ability to work at a technical level with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams.
- Experience building business cases for technology investments, including sensitivity analysis with business unit partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including presenting to executive management.
- Nice-to-have: development experience with additional wired or wireless protocols; MBA or equivalent business qualification.
Education Requirements
