Job Title
Senior Hardware Product Manager - IoT Wireless
Role Summary
Responsible for defining SoC hardware product requirements, roadmaps, and system-level KPIs for Silicon Labs' IoT wireless products from concept through customer alphas. The role works closely with silicon design, product test, validation, software product management, project management and business teams to translate market and application needs into silicon and evaluation hardware.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires 6+ years of experience in semiconductor product management or the IoT industry.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include defining silicon-level requirements, mapping market use cases to system features, and driving product development from concept to execution.
- Define SoC product requirements, features, specs, and system KPIs for CPU, accelerators, power management, peripherals, security, radio subsystems, and packages.
- Map market application requirements to product use cases, system block diagrams, compute/peripheral needs, and protocol stack performance for Wi‑Fi, Matter, Thread, ZigBee, Bluetooth, Sidewalk, Wi‑SUN, and proprietary protocols.
- Specify hardware and evaluation-tool requirements (debug interfaces, trace, virtual COM, user I/O, sensors) for customer evaluation and bring-up.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IC design, product test, software, marketing, applications, operations, and sales to shape roadmaps and silicon definitions.
- Drive product definition and pitch product ideas to executive leadership.
- Perform competitive and die-level analyses to inform design, specifications, and strategy.
- Manage a portfolio of scalable products with clear mapping to target applications.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; items listed as preferred are noted separately.
- Core development experience in IC front end, architecture, verification, or embedded systems.
- Understanding of PPA trade-offs and fundamentals: power estimation, die-size estimation, and process-node considerations.
- Knowledge of wireless modem and RF design principles for Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, 802.15.4 and other low-power wireless standards.
- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware and software).
- Experience building business cases for technology investments and performing sensitivity analysis with business partners.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including presenting to executive management.
Nice-to-have:
- Development experience with additional wireless or wired communication protocols.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (BSEE/BSCS) or equivalent technical degree or practical experience is expected. An MBA or equivalent business graduate degree is listed as preferred.
