Job Title

Senior Hardware Engineer - Micro-Architect

Role Summary

As a senior member of the chip design team, you will define microarchitecture and implement RTL for a general-purpose neural processing unit (GPNPU), optimize power/performance/area, and drive designs through the full product cycle from front-end to tapeout. The team is based in Burlingame and regular in-office collaboration is expected.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 5 years of CPU/GPU/ASIC front-end design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecture definition, RTL implementation, and PPA and timing optimization across the full product cycle.

  • Contribute to processor architecture definition informed by target applications.
  • Own microarchitecture specification and RTL implementation in SystemC or SystemVerilog.
  • Optimize power, performance, and area (PPA) for assigned blocks.
  • Support timing closure through front-end design, back-end integration, and tapeout activities.
  • Debug issues across the full software/hardware stack and package designs for customer releases.
  • Participate in on-site collaboration and team meetings at the Burlingame office.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Proficiency in SystemC, SystemVerilog, or Verilog.
  • Strong background in computer architecture and data-parallel hardware design for high-performance computing.
  • Experience with low-power digital design techniques.
  • Experience with Verilog/C co-simulation and VCS.
  • Experience in logic synthesis and performance modeling.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in FPGA design.
  • Familiarity with automotive safety (ASIL) standards.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (or related technical field). The posting specifies a minimum of five years of CPU/GPU/ASIC front-end design experience.
