Senior Hardware Engineer, Analog & Mixed-Signal
Voyant PhotonicsJob Title
Senior Hardware Engineer, Analog & Mixed-Signal
Role Summary
Lead analog and mixed-signal hardware design for compact, high-performance LiDAR modules. The role owns architecture, signal and power integrity, bring-up and validation, supplier strategy, and mentoring within the hardware team.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 10+ years of hands-on hardware development experience with leadership or technical-direction responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Accountable for the technical direction and delivery of analog/mixed-signal hardware across product programs.
- Define analog and mixed-signal architecture for LiDAR modules (TIAs, ADCs, power delivery).
- Lead signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and EMI/EMC strategy; establish design standards and review processes.
- Plan and execute bring-up, characterization, validation, and manufacturability testing.
- Make design trade-offs balancing performance, cost, and integration complexity.
- Mentor hardware engineers and provide technical guidance in cross-functional reviews.
- Drive supplier and component selection for critical analog parts; engage with vendors and foundries.
- Represent hardware engineering in technical discussions with customers, partners, and investors.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on hardware development with end-to-end ownership of high-volume systems.
- Proven leadership setting technical direction for teams or product lines.
- Deep expertise in low-noise analog and high-speed digital design.
- Demonstrated authority on signal and power integrity and EMI mitigation techniques.
- Experience driving designs through DFM, reliability testing, and yield optimization.
- Proficiency with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, Altium).
- Experience with SI/PI simulation and lab measurement tools (e.g., HyperLynx, SiWave, GHz-range oscilloscopes, VNAs).
- Experience integrating FPGAs, microcontrollers, and custom analog ASICs.
Nice-to-have
- Prior work on LiDAR or photonics-based sensing systems.
- Direct supplier negotiations or component qualification experience in volume manufacturing.
Education Requirements
