Senior Hardware Compliance Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Qualification group on the Compliance team to perform hardware qualification, with emphasis on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Safety testing. The role focuses on executing pre-compliance and compliance tests, debugging EMI issues, and supporting product qualification across internal and external test labs.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role requires 5+ years of experience in electronics design verification or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include laboratory testing, analysis, and reporting to ensure hardware meets EMC and safety standards.
- Plan and execute pre-compliance and compliance EMC and safety tests in internal and external labs.
- Perform EMI debug, analyze results, and recommend remediation for non-compliances.
- Write formal test reports and debug summaries documenting test setups, methods, and results.
- Develop and oversee test setups and fixtures for qualification testing.
- Provide technical support and mentorship on testing processes, methods, and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and interface with vendors, labs, and customers as needed.
- Travel to vendor, lab, or customer sites for on-site testing, oversight, and support.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- 5+ years of experience in electronics design verification.
- Proven experience testing to FCC/EN/CISPR EMC standards and conducting hands-on lab measurements.
- Skilled at analyzing schematics and performing engineering calculations.
- Experience using spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related test equipment.
- Ability to produce clear, organized documentation for testing and evaluations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently to meet critical deadlines.
- Comfortable interfacing with stakeholders across engineering and operations teams.
- Willingness to travel to vendors, labs, or customer sites for testing and support.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with Linux.
- Experience in RF engineering.
- Experience with PCB layout/CAD tools.
Education Requirements
Electrical Practical Engineer certificate (or equivalent practical experience). Practical Engineer with EMC experience is explicitly acceptable. No specific university degree requirement stated.
