Senior Graphics Shader Compiler Engineer

Role Summary

As a Senior Graphics Shader Compiler Engineer, you will design and implement major compiler components for NVIDIA's graphics drivers and GPU compute stack. You will focus on performance, optimizations, and code generation to enable graphics and compute workloads on NVIDIA GPUs.

You will work on a cross-functional compiler team, collaborate with architecture, driver, and application groups, and contribute to open standards and open-source projects where relevant.

Experience Level

Senior-level; typically requires 8+ years of relevant compiler development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement significant parts of the compiler and related toolchain components.
  • Perform performance analysis and design/implement new optimization passes.
  • Collaborate with global compiler, GPU driver, architecture, and application teams to coordinate improvements and resolve problems.
  • Identify and solve advanced compilation problems for state-of-the-art GPU technologies.
  • Contribute to open-source projects (for example LLVM, DXC) and propose/implement SPIR-V extensions; represent the team in Khronos working groups.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

  • 8+ years of experience with a strong background in compilers.
  • Expert C/C++ programming skills.
  • Deep understanding of parallel programming models and GPU architectures.
  • Experience with compiler optimizations and working within the LLVM infrastructure.
  • Experience with code generation and building compiler frameworks.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience developing CUDA, DirectX, OpenGL, or Vulkan applications.
  • Prior work on GPU-targeted optimizations and code generation.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; PhD strongly preferred. Equivalent practical experience accepted.
