Senior Full Stack Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement SiFive's Visual Studio Code plugin to access the SCD REST API and support the SiFive Core Designer (SCD) product. Report to the Director of SCD and work closely with backend engineers, designers, QA, and customer support.

Build developer-facing tooling used by customers to design advanced silicon based on the RISC-V architecture.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on front-end and plugin development, code quality, and team mentorship.

• Develop robust, responsive user interfaces and features for a Visual Studio Code plugin using JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Integrate the plugin with SCD via REST APIs.
• Write clean, well-documented, reusable, and maintainable code.
• Conduct code reviews and improve overall code quality.
• Implement and maintain automated testing for front-end components.
• Mentor team members on JavaScript and VS Code extension best practices.
• Collaborate with designers, backend developers, QA engineers, and customer support.
• Stay current with VS Code extension trends, libraries, and best practices.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Approximately 5+ years proven experience as a full-stack developer.
• Proficiency in Python and Django and experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong experience with SQL and backend data access patterns.
• Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript; experience developing VS Code extensions is a plus.
• Experience with Git and common build tools.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with AWS services and S3.
• Familiarity with security best practices for web and API development.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
