Job Title
Senior FPGA Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Perform simulation, on-target testing (OTT), and verification for FPGA replacements in a safety-critical Digital Control Unit. Work with hardware, systems, and software teams to validate functional and timing behavior and to produce DO-254-compliant verification artifacts.
This is an onsite engineering role focused on hands-on lab integration, debugging, and verification of high-reliability systems.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 5+ years of FPGA verification experience; candidates should have a track record with SystemVerilog/UVM and safety-regulated development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing FPGA verification and supporting hardware integration.
- Develop and execute FPGA verification plans, procedures, and test strategies.
- Build and maintain UVM-based testbenches: agents, drivers, monitors, scoreboards, and sequences.
- Perform simulation, debug, root-cause analysis, and regression testing.
- Support On-Target Testing (OTT), board bring-up, and lab validation.
- Create and maintain DO-254 lifecycle documentation, including requirements traceability and verification evidence.
- Review RTL designs, requirements, and test results for quality and compliance.
- Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware teams to resolve design and integration issues.
Requirements
Must-have skills and qualifications are listed below. Education requirements are summarized separately.
- 5+ years of FPGA verification experience using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Experience with requirements-based verification and maintaining traceability records.
- Working knowledge of digital systems, FPGA design methodologies, testing, debugging, and timing analysis.
- Experience in DO-254 regulated environments (DAL A preferred).
- Proficiency building UVM testbenches and self-checking tests (predictors, scoreboards, agents, drivers, monitors, sequence items).
- Experience with simulation debug, assertions, and functional coverage collection.
- Familiarity with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado and version control (e.g., GitLab).
- Strong written and verbal communication, self-motivated with initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful Permanent Resident (position requires U.S. eligibility).
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Troubleshooting, RCCA, reliability and thermal analysis experience.
- ENV/EMI testing, manufacturing test experience, and board-level validation skills.
- Familiarity with DOORS or similar requirements tools, JIRA/change tracking, Altium, and PSpice.
- Experience integrating automation or AI tools into engineering workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
