Job Title

Senior FPGA/SoC Engineer, Space

Role Summary

Join Anduril's Space team in Costa Mesa to design, implement, and validate FPGA/SoC firmware and systems for space applications. The role focuses on RTL architecture, FPGA/SoC development, vendor integration, and hardware bring-up for orbit-capable products.

Experience Level

Senior - hiring preference for candidates with about 5+ years of FPGA/HDL hardware design experience (posting states 5 years preferred).

Responsibilities

Work across the full hardware development lifecycle from requirements to board bring-up and testing.

  • Design, implement, and verify FPGA/SoC designs (RTL, synthesis, place & route, timing closure, simulation).
  • Develop and debug VHDL/Verilog for signal processing and high-speed communications (Ethernet, serial, etc.).
  • Integrate third-party IP and coordinate with external vendors and developers to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Perform SoC hardware bring-up and low-level debugging, particularly on ARM-based platforms.
  • Investigate and resolve hardware and HDL-level bugs discovered during hands-on testing and board bring-up.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable safety and performance requirements with traceability to system-level requirements.

Requirements

Core qualifications and desirable skills for successful performance in this role.

  • Must-have: Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog; experience in FPGA/HDL hardware design.
  • Must-have: Experience with Xilinx SoC/FPGA platforms (Versal strongly preferred) and familiarity with design tools such as Vivado, ModelSim, or Quartus.
  • Must-have: Experience with SoC hardware bring-up, preferably on ARM-based systems.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Must-have: Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience designing for safety-critical functions and space applications.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FPGA interfaces and high-speed buses, signal processing, and low-level firmware (C/C++) for bring-up and test.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior work with third-party IP integration and vendor-managed development.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
