Job Title

Senior FPGA / RTL Design Engineer - Signal Processing

Role Summary

Senior FPGA engineer on the FPGA Engineering team responsible for implementing signal processing algorithms for Silvus' MIMO wireless networking products. Work spans R&D through field deployment and involves close collaboration with systems, RF, and software engineers.

This position is based in West Los Angeles, CA on a hybrid schedule (minimum three onsite days per week: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday).

Experience Level

Senior. The posting specifies experience-based thresholds: typically 6+ years FPGA design experience, or reduced experience requirements when combined with an advanced degree (4 years with an MS, 2 years with a PhD).

Responsibilities

Primary duties include FPGA signal-processing implementation, validation, and support for wireless communication products.

  • Architect and implement digital designs for wireless/MIMO communication projects.
  • Design fixed-point signal-processing blocks in collaboration with systems engineers.
  • Develop RTL, test benches, and perform simulation-based verification.
  • Perform FPGA synthesis, timing closure, and resource optimization.
  • Hardware bring-up, verification, and troubleshooting using lab instruments and logic analyzers.
  • Support RF and software teams during integration and field testing; assist with demonstrations and deployments.
  • Participate in design reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of FPGA development flows.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, regulatory constraints, and hiring contingencies.

  • Proven FPGA/RTL design experience with complex/high-utilization designs and multiple clock domains.
  • Experience with fixed-point binary arithmetic and digital signal processing implementations.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs/SoCs and Vivado toolflow; familiarity with FPGA synthesis and timing closure.
  • Hands-on hardware verification and lab troubleshooting experience; familiarity with logic analyzers.
  • Ability to collaborate with RF, systems, and software engineers for integration and field testing.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) due to federal contract requirements.
  • Employment contingent on successful background check and drug test.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience using MATLAB for algorithm development and verification.
  • Experience with communication systems on FPGA or ASIC designs.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (see Education Requirements).

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. The posting specifies alternate experience thresholds tied to degree level: typically 6+ years FPGA experience with a BS, 4 years with an MS, or 2 years with a PhD. Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE). Equivalent practical experience is accepted per the experience-based criteria above.
