Job Title

Senior FPGA Prototyping Platform Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Emulation team to build, bring up, and support FPGA prototypes of next-generation GPUs and SoCs on commercial prototyping platforms. This role requires cross-team coordination, hands-on lab work, and delivery of production-ready prototypes to internal customers.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 7+ years of relevant FPGA prototyping experience (or equivalent experience; candidates with an MS and ~5 years' experience are also expected).

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Create FPGA prototypes: drive synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, and generate bitstreams.
  • Bring up designs on FPGA prototyping hardware and perform hands-on lab debug using HW and SW debuggers.
  • Use platform-specific HW diagnostics to isolate issues between the FPGA design and the prototyping platform.
  • Release prototypes to customers and provide post-release support and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with verification engineers, software teams, and lab technicians to complete tasks and resolve issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proven experience with FPGA prototyping hardware architecture, flows, and tools.
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA prototyping lab tasks and managing or working with lab technicians at medium-to-large scale.
  • Experience in backend FPGA flows: synthesis, place & route, timing closure, with emphasis on Synopsys Protocompiler and Xilinx Vivado.
  • Practical lab debug skills and familiarity with FPGA debug tools (Identify/ChipScope) and lab instruments (oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers).

Nice-to-have:

  • Independent and collaborative root-cause debugging experience across HW and SW.
  • Prior prototyping experience with Synopsys HAPS or large-scale FPGA platforms for high-performance processors or SoCs.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of FPGA prototyping experience, or MS with 5+ years; equivalent practical experience is explicitly accepted.
