Senior FPGA / Logic Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement FPGA and digital logic solutions for airborne avionics systems. Join a hardware engineering team responsible for FPGA architecture, verification, hardware integration, and field-ready firmware used in safety-critical aerospace products.

This is an onsite role supporting lab integration, hardware testing, and certification activities for flight-critical systems.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 7+ years of FPGA or digital logic design experience and demonstrated ownership of complex hardware/firmware projects.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification, integration, and support of FPGA-based avionics features.

  • Develop FPGA/firmware architectures and detailed design data for avionics systems.
  • Implement RTL in VHDL and/or Verilog and perform code reviews.
  • Create and execute simulation and verification plans using industry tools.
  • Integrate FPGA hardware in lab and conduct system-level testing and debugging.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, firmware, and system-level issues.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, systems engineering, and certification teams.
  • Support full lifecycle FPGA development and documentation in accordance with aerospace development processes.

Requirements

Required technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • 7+ years of FPGA / digital logic design experience.
  • Strong VHDL and/or Verilog design experience.
  • Experience with FPGA simulation, debugging, and verification tools.
  • Solid understanding of digital design principles and FPGA architectures.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex system-level issues.
  • Ability to work onsite in Duluth, GA for lab integration and testing.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in aerospace, avionics, defense, or other safety-critical domains.
  • Familiarity with DO-254 processes and avionics certification activities.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or system integration testing.
