Job Title
Senior FPGA Engineer, Space
Role Summary
As a Senior FPGA/SoC Engineer on Anduril's Space team in Costa Mesa, you will design, implement, and debug FPGA and SoC firmware for space-qualified payloads and coordinate third-party development. The role covers architecture, RTL development, verification, and hardware bring-up for orbital systems.
Experience Level
Senior-level; the posting prefers candidates with approximately 5+ years of FPGA/HDL hardware design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing FPGA/SoC firmware, integrating third-party IP, and performing hardware bring-up and verification for space systems.
- Develop, test, and implement FPGA designs for Xilinx SoC/FPGA platforms (e.g., Versal).
- Write and debug RTL (VHDL/Verilog); perform synthesis, place & route, timing closure, simulation, and verification.
- Integrate and validate third-party IP and manage third-party developers to ensure timely delivery.
- Participate in the full design lifecycle from requirements and architecture through board bring-up and system-level testing.
- Implement and verify high-speed communications and signal-processing interfaces (Ethernet, serial, analog/digital).
- Investigate and resolve design and system-level bugs; ensure traceability to system requirements and applicable safety/performance standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and qualifications, followed by preferred skills.
- Approximately 5+ years of FPGA/HDL hardware design experience (preferred).
- Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog; practical experience with RTL development and verification workflows.
- Experience with Xilinx SoC/FPGA platforms (Versal preferred) and tools such as Vivado, ModelSim, or Quartus.
- Experience with SoC hardware bring-up, preferably on ARM-based systems.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Experience designing for safety-critical functions and experience with space applications.
- Experience with FPGA interfaces and high-speed buses.
- Low-level firmware (C/C++) development for bring-up and test.
- Experience integrating complex third-party IP and coordinating external developers.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
