Job Title

Senior FPGA Engineer, Space

Role Summary

Hands-on FPGA/SoC engineer on Anduril's Space team responsible for architecture, RTL development, verification, and hardware bring-up for space-qualified payloads and Lattice-for-Space systems. The role includes direct development and managing third-party FPGA/SoC work to deliver production-capable designs for orbital use.

Work spans requirements capture, HDL implementation, synthesis/place-and-route, timing closure, board bring-up, and system-level debugging to meet safety and performance requirements.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 5+ years of FPGA/HDL hardware design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include hands-on FPGA/SoC design and coordination with internal and external teams.

  • Develop, test, and implement FPGA designs targeting Xilinx SoC/FPGA platforms.
  • Architect RTL, write VHDL/Verilog, and perform simulation and verification.
  • Perform synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and design optimization.
  • Integrate third-party IP and manage third-party developer deliverables.
  • Participate in full design lifecycle: requirements β†’ design β†’ board bring-up β†’ system testing.
  • Implement and validate interfaces and signal processing (high-speed comms, Ethernet, serial, analog/digital signal paths).
  • Investigate and resolve bugs at HDL and system level during hands-on testing.
  • Ensure traceability of designs to top-level system requirements and applicable standards.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and core technical skills required to perform the role.

  • 5+ years of FPGA/HDL hardware design experience.
  • Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog.
  • Familiarity with FPGA toolflows (Vivado, ModelSim, Quartus) and experience with synthesis/place-and-route and timing closure.
  • Experience with SoC hardware bring-up, preferably on ARM-based systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Xilinx SoC (Versal) and related toolchains.
  • Designing for safety-critical functions and high-reliability systems.
  • Experience with FPGA interfaces and high-speed buses.
  • Low-level firmware (C/C++) development for bring-up and test.
  • Experience writing HDL for space applications.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
