Senior FPGA Engineer, Intelligence Systems

Role Summary

Join Anduril's Intelligence Systems team in Reston, VA to design, implement, test, and bring up FPGA-based systems for Intelligence Community customers. The role focuses on rapid development of FPGA designs on Xilinx SoC/FPGA platforms and delivery of system-level capability aligned to operational requirements.

Experience Level

Senior - 8+ years of professional FPGA design and development experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, verification, integration, and hands-on hardware bring-up across the full development lifecycle.

  • Develop, simulate, and implement FPGA designs on Xilinx SoC/FPGA platforms.
  • Integrate third-party vendor IP and verify interoperability.
  • Participate in requirements, architecture, design, testing, and board bring-up.
  • Implement signal types including high-speed communications (Ethernet, serial) and signal-processing blocks.
  • Debug HDL-level and system-level issues discovered during hands-on testing.
  • Ensure designs meet performance and safety standards with traceability to system requirements.
  • Perform SoC hardware bring-up, preferably on ARM-based systems.
  • Travel as required (up to 25%) to support lab/field testing and integration.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and technical skills; preferred items are listed separately.

  • 8+ years of professional FPGA design and development experience.
  • Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGA development.
  • Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Vivado, ModelSim, or Quartus Pro.
  • Experience with Xilinx SoC platforms.
  • Experience with SoC hardware bring-up, preferably ARM-based.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-have:

  • Expert proficiency in SystemVerilog.
  • Experience designing for safety-critical functions.
  • Experience with FPGA interfaces and high-speed buses.
  • Low-level firmware experience (C/C++) for bring-up and test.
  • Broad SoC and system integration experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field (required by the posting).
