Job Title
Senior FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and optimize FPGA implementations using Vitis HLS and C/C++-based design flows for mission-critical embedded systems. Work cross-functionally with hardware, software, avionics, and systems teams to deliver high-performance, deterministic FPGA functionality for embedded platforms.
Experience Level
Senior β experienced engineer. The posting denotes a senior role; specific years of experience are not stated.
Responsibilities
Key duties include implementing HLS-based FPGA designs, validating hardware, and integrating FPGA functionality into embedded systems.
- Develop FPGA implementations using Vitis HLS to generate VHDL/Verilog from C/C++ code.
- Translate algorithms and system requirements into efficient hardware architectures optimized for performance and latency.
- Develop and optimize high-level synthesis pipelines and dataflow architectures.
- Collaborate with software, avionics, and systems engineers to integrate FPGA features into embedded platforms.
- Perform FPGA simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, and hardware validation.
- Optimize designs for throughput, determinism, and resource utilization.
- Support hardware integration, board bring-up, and debugging.
- Contribute to verification and testing of FPGA functionality.
Requirements
Core technical qualifications and clearances required; preferred skills listed separately.
-
Must-have: Practical experience with Vitis HLS or similar High-Level Synthesis tools.
-
Must-have: Strong C/C++ programming for hardware-oriented development and experience generating VHDL/Verilog from HLS workflows.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with FPGA development flows including simulation, synthesis, and timing closure.
-
Must-have: Experience with Xilinx/AMD FPGA platforms and toolchains (Vivado, Vitis, or equivalent).
-
Must-have: U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with high-throughput signal or sensor processing, real-time embedded systems, or FPGA-based accelerators.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AXI interfaces, DMA, memory-bandwidth optimization, and HLS pipeline tuning for latency and parallelism.
-
Nice-to-have: Background in aerospace, defense, robotics, or other high-performance embedded systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
