Senior FPGA Engineer (Contract-Perm)

Role Summary

Responsible for FPGA and modem design, verification, and bring-up on Xilinx Versal and UltraScale+ platforms. Work includes implementing high-speed networking and PCIe interfaces and integrating FPGA subsystems with hardware, firmware, and software teams. Long-term contract with potential for permanent hire.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 10+ years of relevant FPGA and modem design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Architect, implement, and review RTL in VHDL and Verilog for FPGA-based systems.
• Perform FPGA bring-up, lab integration, and hardware debugging.
• Develop and run Verilog- and Python-based simulations and testbenches.
• Implement and verify networking protocols (Ethernet/IP/UDP) and PCIe interfaces.
• Integrate and optimize designs on Xilinx Versal and UltraScale+ devices.
• Collaborate with PCB, RF, firmware, and software teams to deliver system-level solutions.
• Troubleshoot integration and production issues and support system validation.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred qualifications:

• Must-have: 10+ years of FPGA/modem design experience; strong VHDL and Verilog skills; hands-on experience with Xilinx Versal and UltraScale+; FPGA bring-up and lab integration; Verilog- and Python-based simulation experience; experience with Ethernet/IP/UDP and PCIe; solid hardware background; strong collaboration and integration skills.
• Nice-to-have: active government clearance (not required); software-defined radio/modem design background; RF design experience; encryption experience; PetaLinux experience; familiarity with Verdi.
