Senior FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Lead FPGA design and verification efforts for advanced microelectronics programs supporting a client mission in Lexington, Massachusetts. The role focuses on FPGA design solutions across design, verification, fabrication, packaging, and sustainment, and provides technical advice for advanced systems and sensor/processing technologies.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 7+ years of FPGA development and research experience across multiple device families and platforms.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include technical leadership of FPGA and microelectronics efforts, system-level planning, and delivery of hardware designs and verification artifacts.

  • Lead design, development, testing, and sustainment of advanced microelectronics systems and trust programs.
  • Provide technical and programmatic advice for advanced systems, sensors, and computer processing technologies.
  • Advise on technical assessments, strategic planning, and engineering evaluations.
  • Develop hardware design specifications, perform circuit-level design, and conduct technical planning.
  • Perform functional analysis, trade studies, and requirements allocation to meet customer needs.
  • Lead and participate in architecture planning, generation of functional block diagrams, and hardware verification activities.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, packaging, and sustainment teams as required by program needs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security clearance, and program experience.

  • 7+ years of FPGA development experience across multiple device families and platforms.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Proven experience with Hardware Description Language (HDL) development and embedded design.
  • Experience implementing HDL for systems-on-chip or FPGAs.
  • Experience with hardware and design security concepts, including verification methodologies and test benches.
  • Familiarity with alternatives to HDL in FPGA development (for example, HDL Coder or Xilinx System Generator).
  • Experience producing hardware design specifications and performing circuit-level design and technical planning.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience performing verification for defense microelectronics systems.
  • Familiarity with the microelectronics design and verification landscape, including various IP blocks.
  • Experience with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
  • Experience with continuous integration development practices.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required. Master's or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is preferred.
