Job Title

Senior FPGA Engineer

Role Summary

Design, implement, and verify FPGA/CPLD-based hardware for high-reliability embedded systems, primarily for aerospace and ground-vehicle applications. Work through all phases of FPGA development including requirements, RTL, simulation, and system integration.

The role sits on a hardware engineering team supporting prototype evaluation, qualification testing, production and obsolescence tasks.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Experience guidance in the posting: Bachelor's degree with 5–10+ years relevant experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and integration of FPGA-based hardware and support throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Generate requirements and implement FPGA designs (RTL development and synthesis).
  • Develop test benches, run functional simulation, and perform requirements-based verification.
  • Perform static timing analysis and power analysis; iterate designs to meet timing and power targets.
  • Support prototype evaluation, design reviews, and design-to-cost tradeoffs.
  • Support qualification testing, system integration, and production engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers and management to enhance and extend applications.
  • Maintain and improve hardware development processes and tools.
  • Provide engineering estimates and contribute to technical decisions with moderate impact on cost and schedule.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for effective performance in this role.

  • Proven FPGA/CPLD design experience, including RTL coding and synthesis.
  • Experience writing test benches and performing digital simulation and verification.
  • Familiarity with static timing analysis and power analysis workflows.
  • Experience with prototype evaluation, system integration, and qualification test support.
  • Practical knowledge of hardware design, testing, and production/obsolescence support.
  • Ability to work with internal tools/processes and to document designs and test results.
  • Domain experience with safety‑critical or high‑reliability embedded systems is a plus (aerospace/vehicle systems).

Education Requirements

Posting specifies a Bachelor's degree with 5–10+ years' relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years' relevant experience. Fields of study were not specified in the source.
