Senior FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Lead FPGA design and optimization for embedded systems and video processing, spanning architecture, implementation, and deployment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, ruggedized products and support system integration and customer testing.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 5 years of relevant FPGA and embedded hardware experience; preferred 7+ years.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and optimize FPGA systems using VHDL and Verilog.
- Perform synthesis, timing analysis, and implementation optimization.
- Develop and debug high-speed digital interfaces, including camera and sensor interfaces.
- Collaborate with PCB vendors and prepare manufacturing documentation.
- Support system integration, lab debugging, and resolve hardware–FPGA integration issues.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and customer engagements.
- Improve engineering processes, documentation, and product reliability.
- Travel occasionally to support customer testing and integration activities.
Requirements
Must-have skills and qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of FPGA and embedded hardware development experience.
- Proficiency with VHDL and Verilog and familiarity with FPGA tool flows, simulation, and verification.
- Practical experience with synthesis and timing analysis.
- Hands-on system integration and debugging experience using laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical design considerations for ruggedized and high-performance systems.
- Eligibility for Top Security Clearance is mandatory.
- Nice-to-have: experience in video processing architectures and advanced embedded applications; preferred 7+ years total FPGA experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
