Senior FPGA Engineer
Infineon TechnologiesJob Title
Senior FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Design, implement and validate FPGA solutions for prototyping platforms and partner platforms. Work with hardware and software teams to integrate FPGA logic with embedded firmware and host interfaces, and lead board bring-up and system-level debug.
Experience Level
Senior. The job title indicates a senior-level role; explicit years of experience are not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include architecture, implementation, and platform bring-up for FPGA-based systems.
- Architect and implement FPGA designs for prototyping and partner platforms.
- Develop and maintain FPGA build flows: simulation, synthesis, place & route, timing closure, bitstream generation, and regression testing.
- Integrate FPGA logic with embedded software, drivers, and host interfaces (Ethernet, USB, UART, SPI, I2C, etc.).
- Perform board-level bring-up: power-on sequencing, clocking/reset strategy, and peripheral enablement.
- Perform system-level debug using simulation and on-chip debug tools; diagnose hardware-software integration issues.
- Document platform architecture, integration guides, and best practices for internal users and downstream teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Strong FPGA development experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog and/or VHDL.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA toolchains (for example, Xilinx Vivado, Synplify).
- Experience with verification and debug: simulation tools (e.g., VCS, ModelSim), testbenches, assertions, and on-chip debug tools.
- Experience integrating FPGA designs with embedded software and host interfaces.
- Scripting and automation skills (Python, Tcl) to improve build flows and productivity.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
