Role Summary

Senior FPGA Engineer on a high-performance team supporting aerospace, defense, aviation, and advanced manufacturing systems. Responsible for designing, developing, verifying, and validating FPGA-based embedded systems for mission-critical and regulated environments.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 5+ years of FPGA development experience as specified in the posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include FPGA architecture, RTL development, verification, integration, and system bring-up.

• Design, develop, simulate, and validate FPGA architectures for high-reliability embedded systems.
• Develop RTL using VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Integrate FPGAs with embedded processors, sensors, communication interfaces, and high-speed data systems.
• Perform timing analysis, debugging, verification, and hardware bring-up.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, and test engineering teams.
• Support system integration, validation, troubleshooting in lab and production environments.
• Participate in design reviews, technical documentation, and compliance activities.
• Optimize FPGA performance, power, and resource utilization for real-time applications.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and on-site availability.

• 5+ years of FPGA development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
• Experience with Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or similar FPGA platforms and toolchains.
• Knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, UART, or DDR memory.
• Experience with simulation and verification tools such as ModelSim, Vivado, Quartus, or Questa.
• Proven debugging and hardware validation experience.
• Ability to work onsite in El Segundo, CA.

Preferred / Nice-to-have:

• Experience with DO-254, MIL-STD, or other regulated development environments.
• Familiarity with embedded systems, DSP, or real-time signal processing.
• Exposure to radiation-tolerant or safety-critical systems.
• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
