Role Summary

Senior FPGA Engineer responsible for designing and integrating programmable logic for phased-array satellite communications payloads. The role focuses on FPGA RTL development, high-speed interface implementation, hardware bring-up, and system-level validation within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and integrate FPGA-based solutions for phased-array communication systems.
• Create RTL for data movement, control, monitoring, and integration functions in the digital signal chain.
• Implement and validate high-speed FPGA interfaces, including multi-gigabit SerDes and JESD-class links.
• Perform timing closure, develop constraints, optimize designs, and manage FPGA build flows.
• Support FPGA bring-up, debugging, and validation on new hardware platforms.
• Troubleshoot system-level issues with hardware engineers using JTAG, on-chip logic analyzers, and lab test equipment.
• Develop diagnostic and monitoring capabilities (error detection, status reporting, debug infrastructure).
• Participate in system integration, testing, validation activities and produce technical documentation.

Requirements

• Must-have: Proven FPGA/RTL design experience (Verilog/SystemVerilog or VHDL) and hands-on hardware bring-up experience.
• Experience with high-speed serial interfaces (multi-gigabit SerDes, JESD-style links) and timing closure/static timing analysis.
• Experience debugging with JTAG, embedded logic analyzers, and laboratory test equipment.
• Experience integrating FPGAs with modems, beamforming hardware, custom silicon, or network processors and supporting system integration.
• Ability to produce and maintain design documentation and technical deliverables.
• Nice-to-have: Experience in phased-array or satellite communications (LEO) and familiarity with major FPGA toolchains and scripting for automation (examples: Xilinx/AMD, Intel toolflows; Python/TCL).
