Senior FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the FPGA & ASIC Design Solutions team responsible for on-target testing, verification, and integration of aerospace products. Work involves lab validation of FPGA designs, verification development, and supporting next-generation aerospace systems.
Position reports to an experienced design group and supports hardware bring-up, debug, and verification activities for embedded FPGA/ASIC-based systems.
Experience Level
Senior β requires at least 5 years of FPGA/ASIC design or validation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary hands-on engineering duties in a lab and integration environment.
- Develop and execute requirements-based test cases, procedures, and test scripts.
- Perform on-target testing and verification of FPGA/ASIC hardware.
- Develop Python scripts and test harnesses to automate hardware testing.
- Debug hardware failures and perform root-cause analysis using lab test equipment.
- Integrate and validate boards and systems in a lab environment.
- Document test results, present status, and communicate technical findings to the team.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional engineering team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, location and clearance preferences, plus desirable additions.
- Minimum 5 years of FPGA/ASIC design, validation, or lab testing experience.
- Proven experience with on-target testing and verification development.
- Proficient in Python scripting for hardware test automation.
- Experience developing test cases, test procedures, and test scripts.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; able to document and present technical work.
- Ability to debug hardware using traditional lab equipment.
- Local to Phoenix, AZ; hybrid schedule with onsite testing required 2β3 days per week.
- US citizen preferred; US Person (permanent resident/Green Card) acceptable.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision as part of a team.
Nice-to-have:
- FPGA lab validation experience with advanced lab equipment.
- Familiarity with revision control tools and concepts.
- Experience with requirements tracing.
- Previous Honeywell experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field is required.
Compensation: Salary range $130,000 to $180,000 per year. Benefits may include health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), education assistance, and paid time off.
