Job Title
Senior FPGA Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement FPGA-based solutions for RF and wireless products within a cross-functional hardware and software team. Focus on size, weight, power, and packaging constraints for fieldable systems and rapid delivery to meet mission requirements.
U.S. Citizenship required. Role may require obtaining a security clearance and up to 10% local travel.
Experience Level
Senior-level β 10+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities include FPGA design, verification, and system integration for RF and communications products.
- Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic components and FPGA-based subsystems.
- Write and maintain HDL (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog) for complex designs and manage pin/timing constraints.
- Implement and debug high-speed interfaces and architectures (e.g. JESD204C, 2.5Gβ100G Ethernet).
- Implement and validate transport layers such as VITA-49 in system-level designs.
- Perform system bring-up, hardware debug, and integration testing with RF front-ends.
- Develop DSP baseband processing, scheduling, and peripheral control for real-time systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document design decisions and test results.
Requirements
Essential technical skills, security eligibility, and professional attributes.
-
Must-have: 10+ years of relevant FPGA/DSP design experience.
-
Must-have: In-depth HDL coding skills: VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Proven ability to debug complex FPGA designs in-system and manage pin/timing constraints.
-
Must-have: Experience implementing high-speed architectures (JESD204C; 2.5G/10G/40G/100G Ethernet).
-
Must-have: Experience with communications systems and algorithms (modulation/demodulation, channel estimation, FEC, AFC/AGC).
-
Must-have: Proficiency programming DSPs and FPGAs using Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and HDL.
-
Must-have: Ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret security clearance and pass pre-employment drug screen.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with wireless standards (3GPP, IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15) and mixed-signal RF considerations.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with SoCs (UltraScale+, Zynq 7000, Agilex), softcore processors, DMA/AMBA/AXI buses, and system-level simulation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is specified. U.S. Citizenship required; candidate must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. (Source specifies BS in EE.)
