Senior FPGA Design Engineer (Satcom)
Role Summary
Work on satellite communications FPGA/modem designs as part of a Redmond-based engineering team. Deliver RTL, verification, and system-level integration for Ultrascale+/Versal-based modem and SDR platforms.
Long-term contract role focused on high-speed SerDes, communication interfaces, simulation, and automation to support production and fielded satcom systems.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of FPGA design experience (as stated).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include RTL design, verification, and integration for satcom/modem FPGA systems.
- Develop and simulate RTL in VHDL and SystemVerilog for Ultrascale+/Versal devices.
- Design and verify high-speed SerDes and related IP.
- Implement and integrate communication interfaces: Ethernet, Interlaken, PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART.
- Contribute to modem/SDR features and FPGA-based signal processing.
- Create scripts and automation for build, simulation, and regression (Python, Perl, Bash, Tcl).
- Collaborate with system, firmware, and RF engineers for system integration and delivery.

Must-have:
- 10+ years FPGA and modem design experience.
- Experience with Ultrascale+ and Versal architectures.
- Proficient in VHDL and SystemVerilog; RTL design and simulation.
- Experience with high-speed SerDes.
- Scripting and automation skills (Python, Perl, Bash, Tcl).
- Experience with communication interfaces: Ethernet, Interlaken, PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART.
Nice-to-have:
- Active government security clearance.
- Software-defined radio / modem design background.
- Petalinux experience.
- RF design experience.
- Encryption experience.
