Job Title

Senior FPGA Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior FPGA engineer supporting the Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions Hardware Engineering Group. Responsible for driving FPGA designs through all phases: architecture, RTL implementation, synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, verification, lab bring-up, product support, and FPGA security.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting indicates typically ~2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent practical experience).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include hands-on FPGA design, verification, and lab support across product development lifecycle.

  • Support FPGA designs through all development phases: architecture, RTL, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure.
  • Own RTL coding and implementation (VHDL preferred, or Verilog).
  • Develop and run designer-level testbenches and digital simulations.
  • Perform lab bring-up, debugging, verification, and product support using internal logic analyzers.
  • Execute static timing analysis and resolve timing closure issues.
  • Support FPGA security and release activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with FPGA/ASIC design and development tools and simulators.
  • Proficiency with VHDL (preferred) or Verilog; designer-level testbench development (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog).
  • Knowledge of clock-domain crossing techniques, static timing analysis, and timing closure.
  • Familiarity with revision control systems (Git, CVS, Clearcase, Subversion, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of internal logic analyzers (ILA/Chipscope/SignalTap) and lab debugging.
