Senior FPGA Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior FPGA Design Engineer supporting Electronic Combat Solutions Hardware Engineering. Responsible for FPGA design through requirements, RTL implementation, synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, verification support, lab bring-up, and product support. Responsibilities

Deliver FPGA designs and support across development phases; collaborate with engineering teams and perform lab integration and debug.

  • Perform static timing analysis, clock domain crossing closure, and timing debug.

  • Integrate and debug hardware in the lab; support board bring-up and verification teams.
  • Maintain revision control and scripting to automate flows (Perl/Tcl/Python/shell).
  • Provide product support and modify/enhance legacy FPGA designs as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security eligibility, and soft skills for this role.

  • U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Experience in FPGA or ASIC design and development (RTL coding, synthesis, timing closure).
  • Proficiency with VHDL or Verilog HDL.
  • Familiarity with Xilinx Vivado or Intel/Altera Quartus toolchains.
  • Digital simulation experience using Modelsim or Questa.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces (SERDES, PCIe, DDR2/3/4, LVDS).
  • Familiarity with revision control systems (GIT, CVS, ClearCase, Subversion, etc.).
  • Ability to generate scripts to support flows (Perl, Tcl, Python, shell).
  • Strong debugging, problem solving, written, and oral communication skills; team player and self-starter.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience implementing requirements into micro-architecture.
  • Experience modifying legacy FPGA designs and working independently within a design team.
  • Hands-on hardware design and lab debug experience; experience with FPGA verification teams.
  • Experience with data conversion techniques (ADC/DAC).
