Job Title
Senior FPGA Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior FPGA designer responsible for FPGA architecture, RTL design, verification, and board-level hardware integration for high-speed, timing-sensitive systems. Works on system-level constraints, interface integration, timing closure, and validation across product bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior-level; typically requires 5–10+ years of hands-on FPGA design and development experience.
Responsibilities
Design, verify, and validate FPGA-based subsystems and collaborate with hardware and software teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
- Architect and implement FPGA RTL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog) and IP integration.
- Perform synthesis, timing analysis, and timing closure for high‑speed designs.
- Develop and execute verification strategies, simulation, and bring-up tests.
- Integrate and debug high-speed interfaces (Ethernet, PCIe, DDR4, MIPI, SerDes, SPI, I2C, UART).
- Collaborate on board-level hardware and system architecture tradeoffs.
- Troubleshoot system-level issues during validation and production bring-up.
- Document designs, review code, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
Key technical and eligibility requirements. "Must-have" items are listed first; additional strengths are noted as "nice-to-have." Education details are in the Education Requirements section below.
-
Must-have: 5+ years hands-on FPGA design experience with RTL development and synthesis.
-
Must-have: Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog and FPGA toolflows (synthesis, simulation, timing).
-
Must-have: Experience with Xilinx SoC/FPGA devices and toolchains (e.g., Vivado) or equivalent flows.
-
Must-have: Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR4, SerDes, Ethernet) and board-level integration.
-
Must-have: Strong debugging skills for bring-up, validation, and system integration.
-
Must-have: US Citizenship required.
-
Nice-to-have: ASIC experience or familiarity with Cadence/Synopsys tools; experience with Intel/Altera or Lattice toolchains.
-
Nice-to-have: Embedded software experience in C/C++; scripting in Python, Bash, or TCL.
-
Nice-to-have: Background in defense, aerospace, space, or other safety‑critical industries; active security clearance is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
