Senior Foundry Tape-Out Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for end-to-end tape-out execution for GaN and discrete power-device technologies, ensuring accurate mask data delivery and schedule adherence. Works with internal design and process teams, foundries, and mask houses across global and Japanese-speaking stakeholders.
Hybrid position based in Kodaira with an expected in-office cadence (team presence Tue–Thu) and two remote days per week.

Responsibilities
Primary duties cover tape-out coordination, mask data preparation/verification, and vendor logistics.
- Manage tape-out schedules across multiple flows and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
- Develop and verify PCM (Process Control Monitor) layouts and alignment mark structures compliant with lithography/process requirements.
- Design stepper reticle layouts, 1:1 aligner and mask layouts; perform optimization and validation.
- Run DRC and mask data validation; perform MEBES checks to confirm mask write readiness.
- Execute mask data generation workflows and perform formal signoff against foundry requirements.
- Manage tape-out submissions, mask ordering, purchase order tracking, and vendor scheduling/delivery coordination.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with design, process, and external mask vendors to resolve issues and align schedules.
Requirements
Required technical skills and practical experience. Preferred items follow.
- Practical experience with foundry tape-out processes for discrete power devices and/or GaN technologies.
- Working knowledge of mask layout, reticle design, and mask data preparation workflows.
- Familiarity with mask data formats (e.g., MEBES) and mask house interactions.
- Experience with layout tools such as Cadence Virtuoso; L-Edit is a plus.
- Experience with verification tools such as Calibre and comfort with Unix/Linux systems.
- Strong ability to learn new tools quickly and maintain high data accuracy.
Preferred:
- Experience working in cross-functional, global engineering environments and effective cross-cultural communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
