Senior Firmware Test Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead design, development, and optimization of test automation and validation for enterprise server firmware (BIOS, BMC, Root-of-Trust). Work with global firmware, hardware, and architecture teams to define automation strategy and improve test coverage, efficiency, and reliability across server platforms.

Responsibilities
Accountable for automation strategy, implementation, and execution of firmware validation across product lines.
- Design, implement, and maintain automation frameworks and automated test suites (Python, Robot Framework, OpenBMC).
- Create, review, and continuously improve test cases for BIOS, BMC, and Root-of-Trust components.
- Plan and execute functional, regression, stress, performance, security, compliance, and interoperability tests.
- Integrate tests with CI/CD pipelines and maintain automated test environments.
- Lead debugging, triage, root-cause analysis, and cross-team issue resolution with hardware, firmware, and QA teams.
- Validate firmware across multiple server product lines and ensure end-to-end coverage.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate milestones and deliveries.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- 5+ years experience in BIOS/BMC firmware testing or automation.
- Deep knowledge of BIOS, BMC, firmware validation, and Root-of-Trust concepts.
- Proficient in Python and Robot Framework; experience automating OpenBMC.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test environments and frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and workflows (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub) and issue trackers (Bugzilla, Jira).
- Strong debugging and test-result analysis skills; ability to drive root-cause investigations.
- Familiarity with server hardware fundamentals, especially x86 server architecture.
- Understanding of relevant industry standards: IPMI, DMTF, Redfish, PLDM, SPDM, UEFI, PCIe, ACPI, OCP, TPM.
- Strong communication, collaboration, prioritization, and mentoring abilities.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with server or embedded systems validation.
- Prior experience improving test efficiency and coverage at scale.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Master’s degree preferred. (Source: Education & Experience Requirements in the posting.)
