Senior Firmware Engineer

Role Summary

Work within AMD's Xilinx organization to design, develop, and test operating-systems-level and low-level firmware for semiconductor platforms, focusing on post-silicon validation, OS/kernel systems, and device drivers.

The role includes system-level software development, hardware compatibility analysis, and creation of tools and infrastructure to support electronic design and testing.

Experience Level

Senior; the posting specifies at least two (2) years of relevant engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

• Research, design, implement, and test OS-level software, compilers, and system tools for semiconductor platforms.
• Develop and debug low-level device drivers and kernel/system components.
• Perform post-silicon bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting on hardware platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to determine hardware compatibility and influence design.
• Create tools and infrastructure to support electronic design and system testing.
• Work independently on complex problems, applying engineering principles and best practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in post-silicon platforms.
• Experience in OS kernel and systems development.
• Experience with memory management and multi-threading.
• Experience developing low-level device drivers.
• Knowledge of x86-64 architecture.
• Travel: No travel required.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. (Posting indicates a degree is required.)
