Job Title
Senior Firmware Developer — Network & Storage Software Engineer
Role Summary
Join AMD's Data Center Solutions team in Hyderabad to develop firmware, Linux drivers, and system-level software for storage and networking IP on AMD programmable platforms. The role requires technical leadership in storage solutions, strong debugging skills, and coordination with cross-functional engineering teams.
Experience Level
Senior — the posting identifies the role as a senior software engineer. The description requests at least 4+ years of relevant Linux application/firmware development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on development, integration, and debug of firmware and software for AMD storage and networking IP.
- Design and implement system components and Linux drivers for AMD IP blocks.
- Develop firmware and embedded applications targeting ARM and other embedded processors.
- Debug software and hardware interactions on target boards and FPGA platforms.
- Work on storage-related protocols and features (NVMe, RDMA) and networking stacks.
- Collaborate with FPGA, SoC, and hardware teams to integrate IP and verify system behavior.
- Optimize for high performance and low latency in compute and network acceleration paths.
- Document designs, track tasks, and coordinate across multiple engineering teams.
Requirements
Core technical requirements and relevant experience for candidates.
Must-have:
- Proven development experience in C/C++ and Python for Linux environments, including driver, application, or firmware development.
- Strong debugging skills for software/hardware integration and target-board failure analysis.
- Experience with embedded processors (e.g., ARM) and embedded development workflows.
- Proven ability to deliver results, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively in engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in storage and networking domains, including NVMe and RDMA-based solutions.
- Familiarity with FPGA development flow and system-level architecture (AXI, bridges, memory controllers).
- Experience with RTOS (Zephyr knowledge a plus) and virtualization frameworks (ESX, KVM, Xen) or networking frameworks (DPDK, ODP).
- Experience with industrial interfaces and subsystems (Ethernet, PCIe, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO, DDR/SDRAM/DMA).
- Experience with SR-IOV-capable PCIe drivers, kernel/user-mode Ethernet NIC drivers, fast-path networking, and NFV acceleration.
Education Requirements
Posting requests a B.E / M.E / M.Tech or B.S / M.S in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with at least 4+ years of experience in Linux application/firmware development.
