Role Summary

The Senior Field Applications Engineer provides technical leadership and customer-facing engineering support to drive design wins and product launches. This role partners with sales, product management, and R&D to influence system architecture, technology choices, and implementation strategies across embedded systems and high-speed interfaces.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 7+ years of relevant design or applications experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical customer engagement, driving design-ins, and supporting solutions from proof-of-concept through production.

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers on system architecture, technology selection, and product integration.
• Partner with sales to identify customer needs and convert opportunities into design-wins.
• Support customers through architecture discussions, proofs of concept, production launch, and post-sales issues.
• Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training to customers and partners.
• Analyze requirements and recommend system-level solutions involving processors, memory, connectivity, acceleration, and peripherals.
• Support discussions on high-speed interfaces, SoC integration, FPGA/IP integration, and system trade-offs.
• Provide product and market feedback to engineering and product management to influence roadmaps.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and mentor junior FAEs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, customer experience, and other essential qualifications.

• 7+ years of relevant experience in embedded systems, hardware, firmware, networking, SoCs, FPGA, or related semiconductor technologies.
• Deep understanding of high-speed digital technologies and interfaces (Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, SerDes) and board-/system-level design considerations.
• Proven track record of taking hardware, firmware, software, or embedded system designs from concept to production.
• Experience in customer-facing technical roles: architecture reviews, proofs of concept, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites (0%–25%).

Nice-to-have: experience with embedded AI/edge computing, IP/RTL integration, FPGA development, or prior mentoring/technical leadership.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
