Senior Field Applications Engineer

Role Summary

The Senior Field Applications Engineer provides technical leadership to support customer design wins, collaborates with sales and suppliers, and drives return on engineering investment through solution selling and technical consulting.

Works with internal engineering resources to influence customer designs, support pre- and post-sales activities, and organize technical events and trainings.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical guidance in the posting: approximately 2–4 years of related experience or an advanced degree; equivalent work experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer-facing engineering support, supplier engagement, and internal collaboration to create demand and secure design wins.

  • Provide technical consulting to customers across pre-sales and post-sales stages and support solution selling.
  • Translate customer needs into engineering solutions and coordinate Arrow design services and supplier resources.
  • Drive design-win priorities, technical initiatives, and promotional activities with sales stakeholders.
  • Conduct technical calibrations and research with sales, suppliers, and internal teams to support customer designs.
  • Attend and lead supplier trainings and customer technical events; organize branch technical meetings and QBR participation.
  • Manage supplier and customer expectations; build relationships with decision makers and keep stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Participate in strategic technical planning and branch initiatives; support engineering-driven demand creation activities.

Requirements

Key technical and interpersonal requirements. "Must-have" items listed first; "Nice-to-have" items noted where applicable.

  • Must-have: Hands-on design experience or strong technical knowledge in FPGA/CPLD development, including RTL design using Verilog or VHDL.
  • Must-have: Experience with FPGA EDA tool flow, timing closure, and board-level bring-up and debugging.
  • Must-have: Ability to engage customers technically and support solution selling and pre/post-sales activities.
  • Must-have: Strong communication skills for supplier engagement, trainings, and cross-functional collaboration with sales and engineering.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience organizing technical events, participating in quarterly business reviews, and driving strategic branch initiatives.

Education Requirements

Typically requires a 4-year degree (bachelor's) or an advanced degree; equivalent practical work experience is accepted.
