Senior Field Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Senior Field Applications Engineer (Embedded Solutions / FAE) providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support for Microchip FPGA solutions to customers in the Bangalore region. The role leads system-architecture discussions, drives design wins, and supports customers from design-in through post-production.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 5β7+ years of relevant FPGA-based design or applications experience.
Responsibilities
Support sales and customers through technical leadership across FPGA-based system design and deployment.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for Microchip FPGA solutions and companion ICs.
- Lead system-architecture discussions, design reviews, and board-level schematic reviews.
- Guide customers on programmable-logic design phases: requirements analysis, HDL development, synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and debug.
- Support embedded CPU integration (soft-core or ASIC-based) and system bring-up.
- Deliver product training, technical overviews, seminars, and workshops for clients and internal teams.
- Collaborate with global teams to develop account strategies and convert design wins to revenue.
- Provide feedback to product divisions based on customer engagements and ROI observations.
- Manage multiple customer engagements and resolve system-level issues with strong debugging.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 5β7+ years of FPGA design or applications experience (industry experience with customer-facing support preferred).
- In-depth experience with Microchip/Microsemi, Xilinx, or Altera FPGA devices and strong Verilog or VHDL skills.
- Hands-on with Libero, Vivado, or Quartus and common synthesis/simulation EDA tools.
- Experience with high-speed interfaces and transceivers (PCIe, DDR3/4, LPDDR, MIPI) and timing closure techniques.
- Embedded processor experience (RISC-V or ARM), C programming, and working knowledge of Linux and software debug tools.
- Strong debugging, communication, presentation, and customer-management skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience building/customizing Linux images and using Keil, IAR, or Eclipse toolchains.
- Familiarity with hardware security concepts (secure boot, encryption, key management, PUFs) and HSM-based key provisioning.
- Prior experience supporting strategic or enterprise accounts and delivering technical workshops.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline (examples: Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation, Telecommunication Engineering, VLSI) with a strong academic record.
