Role Summary

Senior Field Applications Engineer supporting strategic customers in datacenter, AI, server, and advanced computing markets. Based in the San Jose, CA area, the role provides hands-on technical execution, customer-facing design support, and system-level power expertise across design, bring-up, validation, and issue resolution.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 5+ years of relevant experience in power electronics, voltage regulator validation, power applications, or system-level power architecture.

Responsibilities

The role delivers technical support, validation, debug, and program execution for customer power solutions.

• Act as the primary technical interface for customer accounts from design through production.
• Support schematic/layout reviews, board bring-up, debug, validation, and telemetry investigations.
• Perform VR simulations (e.g., SIMPLIS) and validation of multiphase power solutions for datacenter/AI platforms.
• Develop and execute test plans, validation checklists, and coverage matrices; use lab instrumentation for repeatable testing.
• Diagnose complex electrical/system issues using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, current probes, network analyzers, and related lab equipment.
• Drive root-cause analysis and resolution, coordinate cross-functional support, and manage customer communications for escalations.
• Manage multiple customer programs, track issues, and drive execution against milestones to support design wins.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.

Must-have:

• 5+ years experience in power electronics, voltage regulator validation, or system-level power architecture.
• Hands-on bench testing and debug experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, electronic loads, power supplies, current probes, and soldering tools.
• Experience supporting customer technical issues through structured debug and problem solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and customer interactions.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent technical activities with urgency and ownership.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with AI/ML, CPU, GPU, or server power delivery applications.
• Hands-on experience with multiphase buck converters, digital VR controllers, and high-current server/AI power designs.
• Experience with SIMPLIS simulation environment, validation planning, and test automation.
• Prior field applications, systems, or product applications experience working directly with strategic customers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field) was stated in the posting.
