Job Title

Senior Factory SDK and Firmware Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Lead validation of board-, system-, and rack-level factory SDKs and firmware to ensure manufacturing test readiness and product quality from development through mass production. Work cross-functionally with hardware design, software, quality, and manufacturing teams to define test strategies, investigate failures, and implement corrective actions.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requests 8+ years of relevant industry experience, including multi-year experience in PCBA/system validation and manufacturing test.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation and driving failure analysis across hardware, firmware, and manufacturing tools.

  • Lead and execute card-, system-, and rack-level factory SDK and manufacturing test validation.
  • Review contract manufacturer test results and define additional board/system/rack reliability tests as needed.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for reliability and validation failures; define and implement mitigations and corrective actions.
  • Diagnose complex HW/FW/SW interactions, using power-up sequencing and boot-process knowledge.
  • Manage bug lifecycles and coordinate fixes across hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing teams.
  • Define manufacturing test solutions, methodologies, and scalable processes for board, system, and rack product lines.
  • Set up, validate, and support rack-level tester platforms at contract manufacturers, internal labs, and third-party sites.
  • Investigate and introduce manufacturing test technologies to improve efficiency, coverage, and throughput.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 8+ years industry experience in firmware or system engineering.
  • 5+ years of PCBA and system-level product validation experience.
  • 3+ years hands-on manufacturing test and diagnostics experience in a production environment.
  • Expertise in firmware and BMC/OpenBMC, network protocols, enterprise storage, PCIe, IO subsystems, and CPU/memory architectures.
  • Familiarity with ACPI and UEFI specifications and Redfish APIs.
  • Deep understanding of low-level software drivers and kernel behavior; demonstrated ability to debug factory tools and firmware issues.
  • Experience with platform/system-level manufacturing test programs and test infrastructure.
  • Strong English communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams; self-motivated and able to work independently.

Nice-to-have: hands-on lab equipment experience (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers), manufacturing firmware debug/failure analysis, and familiarity with large-scale server, cloud, or automotive embedded systems manufacturing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, Systems Engineering, or a related field is listed. Minimum qualification combinations in the posting: Bachelor's + 2+ years relevant experience, Master's + 1+ year relevant experience, or PhD in a related field.
