Senior Equipment Engineer
Role Summary
The Equipment Engineering team supports NPI, characterization, qualification, and engineering development in the test laboratory. This role ensures equipment readiness, high uptime, and efficient execution of engineering programs across testers, handlers, probers, and supporting hardware.
Works closely with Product Engineering, Test Engineering, and Planning to support debug, test development, and manufacturing releases. This position may require eligibility for access to export-controlled technology and be subject to export license review.
Experience Level
Senior — Minimum 5–8 years of experience in semiconductor test, equipment engineering, laboratory operations, or related fields.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include laboratory setup, equipment readiness, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Manage daily laboratory setup for characterization, qualification, and production readiness.
- Maintain operational readiness of testers, handlers, probers, and support hardware.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain equipment recipes, setup configurations, and operating procedures.
- Support installation, qualification, conversion, calibration, and release of new equipment and hardware.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis on testers, handlers, probers, and interfaces.
- Collaborate with Product and Test Engineering on debug activities, test development, and manufacturing releases.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve equipment reliability, stability, and uptime.
- Work with suppliers and vendors on maintenance, upgrades, repairs, and technical escalations.
- Document setup standards, maintain best practices, track utilization, and generate technical reports.
- Guide technicians and junior engineers on equipment operation, troubleshooting methodologies, and laboratory best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools, and behaviors for this role.
- Hands-on experience with at least two of: V93k Advantest test platforms, Ultraflex Teradyne platforms, test handlers (Hontech, Cohu, ASMPT), wafer probers (TEL, TSK, Opus).
- Experience creating and optimizing equipment recipes, setup configurations, and test support processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across testers, handlers, probers, interfaces, and supporting hardware.
- Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment stability and uptime.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance, calibration, correlation, qualification, and production release processes.
- Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams with strong verbal and written communication.
- Experience coordinating with equipment suppliers and vendors for maintenance, upgrades, and technical escalations.
- Self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment; strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
