Senior Engineering Assistant (Test Product Engineering Lab)
NexperiaJob Title
Senior Engineering Assistant (Test Product Engineering Lab)
Role Summary
Support validation and product engineering teams by performing hands-on testing, measurements, data collection, and first-level analysis in a validation laboratory. Lead day-to-day execution of test, retest, characterization, and qualification activities for semiconductor devices in the Test Product Engineering (TPE) Lab.
Experience Level
Senior - 5+ years of experience in ATE testing, reliability, or product engineering support in a semiconductor environment.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead complex testing, retests, correlation, and characterization runs on ATE platforms (examples: ETS88, J800, Magnum, uParset) across temperatures (e.g., -40°C, 25°C, 125°C).
- Perform first-level debug of test and hardware issues (sockets, load boards, handlers, contact problems) and escalate with documented findings.
- Set up and operate lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, environmental chambers, automated testers; provide/coordinate remote assistance as needed.
- Plan and prioritize lab workload with minimal supervision, balancing urgent retests and routine tasks.
- Ensure proper ESD control and handling practices; support equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and audit readiness.
- Perform first-level analysis of test data: outlier screening, temperature-coefficient and trend checks, and comparisons against baseline/time-zero data; recommend next steps to engineers.
- Maintain lab documentation and records: register/update/close tasks in the EAR system, keep lab logs, test reports, and equipment records current.
- Help improve lab procedures, checklists, and work instructions; support customer-return testing and read-point processes.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 5+ years of experience in ATE testing, reliability, or product engineering support in a semiconductor environment.
- Strong knowledge of IC testing, electrical measurements, and reliability concepts.
- Hands-on ATE platform and test program experience and strong hardware troubleshooting skills.
- Good judgment to distinguish test-related issues from true device failures and to provide clear debug findings.
- Proficiency operating lab equipment and environmental chamber testing.
- Strong attention to detail, discipline in traceability, and accurate record-keeping.
- Clear written and verbal communication with engineers, vendors, and the TPE team.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently, meet tight deadlines, and work in shifts.
- Coaching and leadership skills to lead lab execution and mentor technicians.
Nice-to-have: experience with Exensio, familiarity with read-point processes and customer-return unit testing, and specific experience on ATE platforms such as ETS88, J800, Magnum, and uParset.
Education Requirements
Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field.
