Senior Engineer, Yield Engineering
Role Summary
Work as a yield engineer in a 300mm wafer fabrication facility to drive yield improvement and product performance for advanced technology nodes (45nm and below) in high-volume production. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with test, integration, process modules, and direct engagement with customers to report status and implement corrective actions.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting requests a minimum of 2β3 years of semiconductor-industry experience, with responsibilities aligned to experienced engineering staff.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include investigation, analysis, and implementation of yield and product-performance improvements:
- Drive yield and product performance for nodes at 45nm and below in high-volume production.
- Investigate root causes of yield and product functionality issues using data and failure analysis.
- Analyze device, product and design information to identify improvement opportunities.
- Provide regular updates to customers on yield status and forecasts.
- Collaborate with Test, Integration and Process Modules to implement cost-effective fixes.
- Support customer engineering requirements and process-module efforts to improve cost, cycle time, and manufacturing robustness.
- Perform duties in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and attributes:
- 2β3 years of experience in the semiconductor industry or a related field.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills; experience designing and analyzing experiments.
- Knowledge of circuit design and test, solid-state device physics, and submicron FET architectures, with understanding of electrical characteristics' impact on yield.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal) with strong communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in multicultural teams.
- Fast learner with an affinity for quick technical ramp-up.
Nice-to-have:
- Working knowledge of semiconductor processing and process integration.
- Prior yield engineering experience supporting high-volume production.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Circuit Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in a related technical discipline.
