Job Title
Senior Engineer, Unit Process Modeling
Role Summary
Join the Advanced Modeling & AI Solutions (AMAIS) team to develop digital twins, predictive models, and AI-driven solutions for semiconductor process and manufacturing optimization. Work spans DRAM, NAND, and advanced packaging; focus is on physics-based and data-driven modeling to inform technology and fab co-optimization.
Experience Level
Senior. Requires demonstrated modeling experience; the posting specifies 5+ years of modeling experience.
Responsibilities
Develop and deploy predictive and prescriptive modeling solutions across process, wafer, die, package, and manufacturing domains.
- Create Digital Twins and predictive models linking process, structure, performance, yield, reliability, and cost.
- Develop structural and multiphysics models to assess stress, deformation, cracking, voiding, and reliability risks.
- Build physics-informed composite AI models for technology development, yield improvement, and design-space exploration.
- Apply computational methods, machine learning, and sparse-data techniques for robust predictions and prescriptions.
- Integrate GenAI/LLM-powered tools, RAG systems, and agentic workflows with engineering tools, simulations, and manufacturing data.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to translate modeling results into actionable technology decisions.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required and preferred for success in this role.
Must-have
- Experience in algorithm development, numerical methods, and scientific computing.
- Practical experience with plasma, FPM, HAR etching, and Monte Carlo (MC) modeling; experience with wet processes and chemical etch/strip.
- Strong background in thermodynamics, physics, and chemistry and experience with computational materials science methods.
- Experience with process and multiphysics modeling and common modeling software.
- Software development experience on Linux; experience with Bash and one or more of Python, FORTRAN, or C++.
- Familiarity with tools such as OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, or HPEM.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, written communication, and team collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with machine learning/deep learning concepts, regression, and neural networks.
- Experience writing technical reports and conference papers; experience with GenAI/LLM integrations for engineering workflows.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
