Job Title

Senior Engineer, System Level Test (ATE Experience)

Role Summary

Join Qualcomm's System Level Test (SLT) organization to develop and deliver system-level test solutions that validate SoC performance, reliability, and manufacturability. The team focuses on post-silicon validation, automated system-driven test content, and production screening to catch issues not found by traditional manufacturing tests.

The role pairs ATE expertise with system-level validation, data analysis, and automation to improve product quality across mobile, compute, automotive, and server platforms.

Experience Level

Senior - requires substantial ATE and semiconductor test experience. The posting targets engineers with multi-year ATE/Test Engineering experience (candidate should have demonstrated ATE program development and production test deployment).

Responsibilities

Work across hardware and software teams to bring up silicon, validate SoCs, and develop scalable production screening and SLT-based ATE capabilities.

  • Support early silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation with system software.
  • Test and characterize hardware across operating conditions (voltage, process, temperature).
  • Develop automated system-level test content to stress SoCs (functional, performance, stability, benchmarks).
  • Create production screens and ATE-style test strategies on SLT; enhance SLT debug capabilities similar to ATE.
  • Analyze large sets of test data to identify failure modes, yield issues, and areas for test improvement.
  • Collaborate with project leads and cross-functional teams; act as individual contributor and as part of a team.

Requirements

Key technical skills and practical experience required for successful contribution to SLT and ATE-related efforts.

Must-have:

  • 5+ years of semiconductor ATE Test Engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Advantest V93k and/or Teradyne platforms.
  • Experience developing ATE test programs in structural, memory, and/or functional test domains.
  • Strong understanding of DFT methodologies (e.g., SAF, TDF, SSN, Memory BIST, fusing).
  • Familiarity with VLSI technologies: digital design, CPU architecture, and semiconductor process fundamentals.
  • Experience with silicon characterization, yield analysis, and production test deployment.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, Java, C#) and experience in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills; ability to collect and summarize large test datasets.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with silicon bring-up, post-silicon validation, or system-level testing.
  • Knowledge of operating systems and platforms (Android, Linux, Windows, RTOS) and embedded/SoC validation.
  • Familiarity with processors, memory subsystems, graphics, power/thermal, and performance validation.
  • Experience with automation frameworks, source control (Git, Perforce), CI/CD, and data analytics tools (JMP, Exensio, Power BI, Python libraries).
  • Experience using debugging tools (JTAG, Lauterbach, Trace32) and lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, thermal equipment).

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. The posting also lists alternatives: a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering (with reduced experience requirement) or a PhD in a related field are acceptable. Preferred: Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/Engineering. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of some degree-based requirements.
