Job Title
Senior Engineer - STA
Role Summary
Perform static timing analysis (STA) and timing closure for SoC and block-level designs. Work with design, IP, and verification teams to drive timing signoff and ECO delivery for advanced-node silicon.
Member of the silicon/physical implementation team responsible for timing signoff, tool flows, and cross-team coordination to achieve tapeout quality.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting lists work experience guidance of 2β5 years in physical implementation and signoff methodologies.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include timing analysis, closure, and ECO management across SoC and subsystem levels.
- Develop and validate timing constraints for functional and test modes.
- Perform STA and timing closure at SoC and block/subsystem levels.
- Generate, track, and close ECOs in collaboration with PD, design, constraint teams and partners.
- Integrate IP and ensure timing signoff across integrations.
- Analyze timing data and present findings to engineering stakeholders.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required. Must-have items are listed first.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with industry STA and ECO tools such as PrimeTime, Tempus, or Tweaker.
-
Must-have: Experience performing timing closure at SoC and block level and driving signoff.
-
Must-have: Experience with IP integration and timing signoff workflows.
-
Must-have: Experience working on lower technology nodes, preferably sub-7nm.
-
Must-have: Proficiency in scripting (TCL, Perl, or Python) for automation and analysis.
-
Must-have: Strong data analysis, presentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-
Must-have: Experience collaborating across silicon engineering teams and with EDA vendors.
-
Nice-to-have: Specific experience with the listed tools in large SoC projects or with advanced signoff flows.
-
Experience: Work experience of 2β5 years in physical implementation and signoff methodologies (as stated in source).
