Senior Engineer, SSD Validation

Role Summary

Design, develop, and automate validation and test content for SSD products. Collaborate with firmware, hardware, systems, and product teams to validate features, ensure reliability, and meet customer and industry requirements.

Deliver automated functional, performance, power, interoperability, stress, and negative tests; build and maintain test tools and frameworks; perform deep debugging and root-cause analysis across multiple hardware and OS platforms.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include developing, executing, and improving SSD validation and automation workflows.

• Design and implement automated test cases, test flows, and reusable validation components for SSDs and embedded storage systems.
• Translate feature requirements, customer specifications, and industry standards into executable tests and validation plans.
• Develop and maintain test tools, utilities, and frameworks (Python or similar) and integrate them with CI/regression systems.
• Execute validation across multiple hardware, OS, and platform configurations; collect results, metrics, and risk assessments for qualification.
• Investigate failures using logs, analyzers, and debug tools; perform structured root-cause analysis and document issues.
• Participate in design reviews, requirements discussions, and cross-functional triage meetings.
• Improve test reliability, repeatability, and scalability across lab environments and automation workflows.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for this role.

• Experience developing automated tests for storage devices or embedded systems, including creating test cases, test flows, and reusable validation components.
• Proficiency in Python or equivalent scripting languages for test development and automation.
• Ability to interpret and implement customer-specific test requirements, compliance documents, and feature specifications.
• Familiarity with structured development practices: requirements breakdown, feature-based test planning, code reviews, CI/automation practices, and version control.
• Experience with test execution environments and debug tools (analyzers, logs) to validate features and diagnose failures.
• Knowledge of SSD fundamentals, including NAND behavior, basic FTL concepts, and high-level controller architecture.

Education Requirements

Employer will accept a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
