Senior Engineer - SSD Validation
Role Summary
As a Senior SSD Validation Engineer you will validate NAND-based SSD systems by defining test strategies, plans, cases, and automation that verify functionality, performance, interoperability, and customer qualification requirements. You will work with firmware, hardware, systems, product, and customer teams to identify, reproduce, and resolve issues and to improve validation efficiency and product quality.

Senior; 4β10 years of experience in embedded firmware, storage systems, SSD validation, or related engineering fields.
Responsibilities
Deliver and execute validation work across firmware, system, performance, reliability, and customer-qualification domains; drive automation and data-driven analysis.
- Define and execute validation test plans, test cases, and automation content for SSD firmware and systems.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for functional, system-level, performance, reliability, and qualification testing.
- Validate firmware against NVMe, PCIe, OCP Cloud SSD, and customer specifications.
- Reproduce, debug, and escalate product and customer-reported issues; collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve them.
- Analyze test results, identify quality risks, and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
- Track, document, and communicate validation findings, defects, and project status.
- Identify and implement improvements in validation methodologies and execution efficiency, including use of AI-assisted tools where appropriate.
Requirements
Key technical requirements and preferred experience for the role.
- 4β10 years of experience in embedded firmware, storage systems, SSD validation, or related engineering roles.
- Strong knowledge of SSD architecture, NVMe, PCIe, and enterprise/datacenter storage technologies.
- Hands-on debugging experience on Linux and Windows and understanding of interactions among CPU, memory, PCIe, drivers, OS, and firmware.
- Proficiency in Python for test development, scripting, and automation.
- Experience with protocol analyzers and debugging tools (e.g., LeCroy, JDSU) and familiarity with storage validation platforms (Medusa, SanBlaze, OakGate, UNH, PCIe-CV) is preferred.
- Experience designing validation plans for I/O workloads, endurance, reliability, and media-management testing.
- Ability to perform failure analysis, drive root-cause investigations, and work across teams to close issues.
- Strong communication, project planning, and collaboration skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
