Senior Engineer, Silicon Validation

Role Summary

Lead software-driven test development and validation for AI accelerator SoCs (Trainium and Inferentia) across pre-silicon, emulation, and system levels. Work on functional and performance verification to ensure silicon quality and delivery.

Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, verification, firmware, software, and post-silicon teams to define and execute verification strategies.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Develop, run, and debug software-based tests for pre-silicon validation of compute and AI acceleration engines.
• Create unit tests and end-to-end tests covering simple operations and complex neural network layers.
• Drive early testing on emulation to find bugs and enable rapid software testing.
• Debug issues across the stack from RTL to firmware and application software.
• Scale and maintain verification and emulation infrastructure for pre-silicon teams.
• Define and drive verification strategy and technical decisions for Trainium and Inferentia product lines.
• Collaborate closely with architects, chip design, verification, post-silicon validation, and software teams.
• Mentor and develop junior and senior verification engineers.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• 6+ years as a verification or chip design engineer.
• 2+ years of hardware/software co-design testing experience.
• Proven experience developing software-based tests for ML accelerator SoCs.
• 3+ years verifying AI acceleration engines.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture and AI acceleration hardware architecture.
• Deep understanding of hardware verification methodologies and coverage analysis.
• Experience testing on emulation platforms.
• Expertise in concurrent hardware/software verification, strong problem-solving, mentorship, and cross-team communication skills.
