Senior Engineer, RTL Design
Role Summary
The Senior RTL Design Engineer will design and implement RTL for SoC subsystems, integrate IP, and produce micro-architecture and design specifications. The role works closely with verification, performance analysis and project management teams to deliver complex SoC features and improve team design methodologies.
Experience Level
Senior-level; typically requires 5+ years of experience in RTL or SoC subsystem design.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include:
- Integrate IP and develop RTL for SoC subsystems.
- Write micro-architecture and detailed design specifications.
- Implement RTL, diagnose and fix design bugs, and run design checks.
- Collaborate with verification to review test plans and debug issues.
- Work with performance analysis to evaluate and improve subsystem performance.
- Contribute to and enhance design methodologies, tools and flows.
- Support project planning and schedules with project management and mentor other team members as needed.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 5+ years experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
- Strong digital hardware design skills and experience with Verilog HDL.
- Experience creating design specifications and developing RTL for SoC projects.
- Familiarity with design techniques for complex SoC development (synthesis and timing-aware design).
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Perl or Python.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ARM-based designs and ARM system architectures.
- Subsystem integration experience (PCIe, LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet).
- SystemVerilog and verification methodologies (UVM/OVM).
- Knowledge of static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-propagation, lint), power management, DFT and physical implementation.
- Experience leading small teams or projects.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
