Senior Engineer, Product Engineering (Mfg.)

Role Summary

Lead and execute product-yield and manufacturing-improvement initiatives at supplier fabs. Provide technical guidance on yield improvement, product characterization, test-time reduction, process simplification, and qualification activities to reduce factory cost and sustain product performance.

Experience Level

Senior - requires at least 5 years of related semiconductor manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve supplier-facing process and test improvements to increase yields, reduce scrap and test time, and support product qualification.

  • Drive and implement yield improvement projects at supplier manufacturing sites.
  • Perform product characterization for new products and post-release issues.
  • Analyze failures, debug issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Reduce test time and simplify process flows to alleviate capacity constraints.
  • Lead product qualification work for new materials, fabs, or processes.
  • Sustain product performance and manage yield metrics across supplier factories.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and communicate technical status to stakeholders.
  • Occasional travel to supplier sites (approximately 10%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive semiconductor manufacturing experience.
  • Proficient in product testing, failure analysis and debug techniques.
  • Experience with statistical and yield tools (JMP, PDF Exensio Test/Yield).
  • Ability to analyze both analog and digital circuitry.
  • Hands-on experience with testers such as Teradyne, Flex, NI, and Eagle.
  • Programming experience in C++, C#, or Visual Basic for test development.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Catalyst, SPEA, HP93K testers and LabView programming.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
