Job Title
Senior Engineer, Product Engineering (Manufacturing)
Role Summary
Work on new product introduction and volume production support for analog/mixed-signal products, partnering with design, process, test, reliability, and manufacturing teams to solve product and production issues.
Role includes yield improvement, root-cause failure analysis, process and product transfers, and driving preventive actions to improve quality and reduce cost. Partial telecommute benefit: 2 days/week work from home.
Experience Level
Senior. Job classified as experienced; expect applicants with multi-year hands-on experience in product engineering and failure analysis (posting indicates experienced hire).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on investigation and cross-functional engineering to move products from design to high-volume manufacturing.
- Manage new product introduction and provide engineering support during volume production.
- Interface with design, process, test, reliability, and manufacturing to resolve product and production issues.
- Conduct low-yield root-cause analysis and define failure modes, affected quantities, and financial impact.
- Analyze yield, test, fabrication device and tool data using statistical tools and custom programs.
- Perform circuit analysis of analog and mixed-signal ICs using electronic design tools.
- Use precision measurement equipment and automated test scripts to collect and validate device performance data.
- Perform fault isolation and physical failure analysis and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- Experience analyzing manufacturing statistics using tools such as Klarity ACE, Galaxy Examinator, and PDF Solutions Exensio for correlation and pareto analysis.
- Experience in IC modeling and simulation using Cadence, Avalon, Console, and Advanced Design System (ADS).
- Experience with bench evaluation and characterization equipment (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters) and automation via Python, LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar.
- Experience performing failure analysis of analog/mixed-signal ICs using OBIRCH, EMMI, X‑Ray, thermal hotspot techniques and applying semiconductor device physics for root cause.
- Experience with mechanical and chemical de-processing, parallel polishing, SEM, FIB, PVC, EDX, and in-situ nanoprobing for material and microstructure characterization.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills to drive problem resolution.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Device Physics, or a closely related technical discipline plus two years of experience as a product engineer or equivalent practical experience in mixed-signal circuit debugging and physical failure analysis.
